OUR 2021 BENEFICIARIES

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida and Tampa Bay

The Ronald McDonald House Charities are a “home-away-from-home” for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at local hospitals and medical facilities. Their mission is to find, create and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families.

According to a recent study published in Families, Systems, and Health, a journal of the American Psychological Association, families who stayed at a Ronald McDonald House believe that being nearby helped their child recover and shortened their hospital stay. Ronald McDonald House staff and volunteers help families:

  • Stay together during their child’s medical crisis
  • Reduce their stress and financial burden
  • Feel less isolated and find a network of support to help them cope

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida and Tampa Bay have become two of our signature beneficiaries. The David Maus Foundation has underwritten three rooms at the houses for families to stay in, and helped build healing gardens at the newest home near Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando.

The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America

Through the Leavitt Family Foundation, we were introduced to an amazing organization that helps children with a condition not often discussed, but in need of research and assistance funds. The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. CCFA also hosts Camp Oasis, which is a co-ed residential camp program that’s mission is to enrich the lives of children with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis by providing a safe and supportive camp community.
